Goals

From the book 212 degrees:
"Having a simple clearly defined goal can capture the imagination and inspire passion. It can cut through the fog like a beacon in the night."

Do each of you have a goal for your Scentsy business?
Have you written it down?
How will you achieve it?

These are the goals/questions I want each of you to focus on this week:
1. What do you want from Scentsy? What will it allow you to do?
Why do you want this?
2. What do you need your commision check to be each month?
3. How will you do it?
a. What title do you need?
b. How many parties will you have each month?
c. Monthly sales?
d. How many recruits each month?

Feel free to contact me if you need help setting achieveable and measureable goals.

212

So what is so special about 212?
I just read a VERY QUICK read: a book titled 212 degrees.
You see, at 211 degrees, water is extemely hot. BUT at 212 degrees, it boils. When water boils, it makes steam. With steam, you can power a locomotive! It just takes that one tiny degree to make a difference.
I challenge you to make that 1 degree difference in some facet of your life today!

About Me

I got to thinking that our team is growing so quickly and in so many directions, that many of you don't know me and I don't know you. I would love to get to know as many of you on my team as possible! Here is a thought...I am going to post 10 things about me. Some are obvious if you know me for a bit and some are a bit more random. After you read mine, I challenge you to comment back with 10 facts about you.
1. I started Scentsy for shoes! I started selling Scentsy because my friends and I were buying it anyway...why not make some money too. Paul was always getting onto me for buying too many shoes. I thought, if I buy my shoes with my Scentsy money-Bonus! Obviously, my business has grown beyond shoes!
2. I have had MANY jobs. My first job was cutting fabric at Hancock fabrics. I then did a short stint at Old Navy. After that, I was off to be a receptionist at Top Cuts. Next was a life changing step-Java Dave's CoffeeShop (more on that later). Then I work for a while at Salon Portico doing hair. After that, ProCuts. When we moved to Wagoner, I worked many different jobs at Walmart: cashier, Accounting, photo clerk, and Customer Service Manager. Throw Avon somewhere in there. A short stint at Albertsons grocery. Next, I think, was Petra Fashions (another direct sales). Whew....then began my teaching career. I have taught Kdg, 1st, 3rd, and Special Education. Let me just say, I LOVE my job now!!!!!
3. Paul and I were married very young. I was 18 when we got married. No-we were not high school sweethearts. We actually only knew each other about 9 months when we got married. I could not have ever made a better decision! We just celebrated 12 years of marriage. We have two beautiful children-Mackenzie is 9 and Antonio is 7.
4. I am a lifetime Weight Watcher member. When Kenzie was 4, I decided I couldn't blame my extra weight on the pregnancy anymore. I started WW. I lost a total of 37 pounds and 6 sizes. I do still go to meetings to be sure I maintain my weight loss.
5. I LUV couponing. Seriously! I am one of those crazies with the 3-ring binder full of an insane amount of coupons. I am that person that you hate to get behind in line. Yep, I am that person! I get a "high" off of good deals and bargains. If you want to get into couponing, I recommend http://www.moneysavingqueen.com/ for starters.
6. I want to be a doctor. No, not like a "Are you feeling well?" doctor. I want to get my doctorate degree. I really don't know what I would like to study. It changes often. I am definately a lifelong learner and love to learn new things. I enjoy school. I would love to go back to school once my kids are grown and gone.
7. So back to the Java Daves....I am a caffeine addict. I blame it all on my job as a barista in high school. I am really not picky as to how I get my caffeine...coffee, tea, soda, chocolate, red bull. However, if I had my choice, it would be a TRIPLE GRANDE SKINNY VANILLA LATTE from Starbucks.
8. I am reverse-challenged! Yep that is right-I can drive beautifully in forward motion, but put me in reverse, and it all goes bad!
9. "Hi, I'm Jami, a freshman at Northeastern State University!" I am a pageant brat. I wasn't one of those little kids that wears too much makeup and acts 20 when she is 6. I started doing pageants in high school. I never really wanted to win-just place. This was my plan to pay for school and it worked well-until I got married!
10. I am organized in my head eventhough it doesn't always come out into my surroundings. I really struggle with this. I love those minimalist houses where all the picture frames match and nothing is out of place. I want that! I just can't seem to pull it off. I want my desk to have a place for everything and everything in its place. I just can't seem to pull it off. I want my closet to stay organized and orderly. I just can't seem to pull it off.---This being said, if you talk to me and I say I would love to do something for you-I really would love to help. BUT, you better email it to me if you really want me to follow-through!

Well, I hope you have enjoyed getting to know me a bit better. Please share some about yourself so I can get to know you!

Poll:

If you attended Mini Convention, or watched it online, what was one thing you learned? Did you have an "ah ha" moment?

Spreading the Love

If you have known me for any amount of time, you will discover that I am very goal oriented. I set tons of goals for myself and my team. When I was teaching, I discovered that the students would only perform to the level that you expected of them. I feel the same happens to myself. If I expect more, I do more!

This is one goal/challenge that I have for our team: I want at least one team member in every state of the USA. Scent Therapy is currently in 11 states. We are in these states:

  • Arkansas

  • Colorado

  • Connecticut

  • Georgia

  • Kansas

  • Missouri

  • Nebraska

  • New Mexico

  • Oklahoma

  • Tennessee

  • Texas

If you are the first to have a recruit in an "unclaimed state", you will receive a prize in the mail from me. Be the consultant to enroll the recruit in our 50th state and you will receive $50 CASH!

So, start thinking about those cousins, aunts, long lost high school friends, facebook friends, etc. in other states and share the Scentsy opportunity with them all.

The power of change

Scentsy is POWERFUL! I knew this because of what it has allowed in my family. Not only am I less stressed, but I get to help people everyday. I know that most people would not think that selling candles could help people, but it does. Scentsy is empowering women (and men too) to live the type of life they have always desired. It is helping moms spend more time with their kids, helping families pay off debt, funding family vacations, and so much more!
While speaking with a customer at an event, we were both literally brought to tears. She simply began to imagine how her life could be different if she began to focus on a Scentsy business. Yes, my business will grow by getting a recruit, but more rewarding than that-I will be able to help this woman change her outlook on life!
Think about the lives that you can change.

October Warmer

I know that I was having trouble downloading this pic from the workstation. I found this on the myfamily website and thought I would share it with all of you. I absolutely love this warmer. I have so many personal warmers, but I think I might be getting another one here!!! I know I will be stock ordering them for craft shows for sure!

Blessed

Okay guys, I am overwhelmed at the growth and sales for our team this month. Literally in awe of what the Lord has done. I know that I could not have done all of this without each and every one of you on our team! Many of you know my Scentsy story and know that I was not looking for anything else to add into my life when Scentsy dropped in my lap. I signed up by chance hoping to make enough money to splurge on a pair of shoes each month. WOW! Look what the Lord has done to my "shoe" money.

As I have been reflecting on the blessing bestowed to my business, my finances, and my family, I have been turning to the Word. I have found two verses that speak volumes to my Scentsy business and I would like to share them with you:

"Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow." -Proverbs 13:11
I know that my business has grown in baby steps. I am thankful for that. I know that it is not "here today and gone tomorrow" because of how it has grown.
I think this verse is powerful especially when you have a hostess that is wanting to sign up. I know that it is tough to give up an entire party to a new recruit. You are losing money up front and simply HOPING that it will come back to you. The Word says it will! He will make your business grow if you are working in truthful and ethical ways!

Proverbs also says "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." (16:3)

I know I am getting "preachy" this morning but this is my outward and vocal presentation of giving thanks to the Lord for all he has done for me.

I pray that you will have a blessed and prosperous September!

Only 2 more days

Hard to believe there are only 2 more days in August (counting today). Don't forget to call all those customers and remind them about the 10% off sale. Those orders need to be turned in by tomorrow. I will warn you that the workstation will be hit hard tomorrow. I would suggest turning in orders as early as you can to ensure you are not ready to throw your computer across the room :)

As for our recruiting challenge-we do have a winner! Michelle Williams sponsored our 10th member to the team this month. She will receive a $25 restaraunt gift card. Thanks to all of your hard work-our team has grown by 12 as of today!!! I am still hearing about others that will be signing up within the next few days. I am in awe of what the Lord is doing to grow our team. I pray that He will send the right people in each of your paths throughout the weeks to come so that your team will grow and flourish.

Reminder: Check your email daily!!!!!

$25 gift card still up for grabs

Just a reminder about my challenge to you:
It was my personal goal for our team to grow by 10 new members in August. We are SO CLOSE to that happening. I cannot reach this goal alone-I need your help. If you sign up the 10 recruit to our team this month, I will send you a $25 restaraunt gift card. So take the time today to call some of those "maybes" and other possible recruits.
Also remember this--change your mindset from bothering to blessing. You are not bothering them by talking to them about scentsy, you are offering them a blessing that could change their life! I know it changed mine :)

God listens and answers prayers!

So I just thought I would share a personal story here. I know that I have not personally met many on my team and I am excited that this blog will help you to know a bit about me as a person and not just as a director. My faith and beliefs are a very important part of my life. I believe that Scentsy was sent to me at just the right time. I know that the Lord has blessed my business and that I was never in this venture alone.

Just yesterday, I was personally attacked-not physically but emotionally. I will not go into details except to say that my spirit was crushed. I was discouraged. I went to bed with Eeyore's grey cloud over my head. I spent alot of time in conversation with God last night-me talking, Him listening. I prayed for perseverance to be able to overcome obstacles and attacks. I prayed that He would send people in my direction that I could bless with the opportunity of Scentsy. I slipped away(to sleep) in prayer.
Just today I was contacted by two (yes, TWO) individuals whom I did NOT know that were asking me about the opportunities with Scentsy! One found my contact information through the Scentsy consultant finder. The other was a customer of mine that I have never personally met-she had ordered off my website. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it now. The Lord not only listened to my plea, He answered and answered in a BIG way.

So remember, if you are having a bad day and are down on yourself-seek Him!
Luke 11:9-10 says, "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

Let's try this again

While meeting with a team member for lunch, I was re-inspired to get back to blogging again. I had tried starting a team blog last Spring. While it was a great idea-the timing was not good. Now that I am focusing more time on my Scentsy team, I WILL start this blog working for us.

I need your help! Hold me accountable. If you check the blog and I have not updated it with in the past week, let me know. You never know, I might send you a goody in the mail for holding me accountable. We all need a bit of accountability from time to time.

Well, I will leave it at that today. HOPEFULLY I will have brilliant words of wisdom to share with you tomorrow.

For today.....baby steps!

Spring Bling, Fundraisers, and Such

So Spring Bling was amazing! I learned so much and really got excited that I work for such a wonderful boss-me! Mary Christensen was an great speaker. She was easy to listen to and a joy to hear. Please take some time to visit her website and friend her on facebook. I bought "How the be a Recruiting Superstar" from her and I look forward to sharing some tid-bits with the team. I would love to do a book study. Let me know if you are game.

I am also in the midst of some great fundraisers. I had never done a fundraiser until last month and I have now closed out 3 and waiting on 2 more. I inputted over 1200 in orders last night. I am excited to see how fundraisers benefit my business!

Don't forget we have a conference call tonight at 9:00 CST. Check your email for the number.

Getting Ready for Spring Bling

Well, I am anxious for Spring Bling. This will be my first large presentation with Scentsy. I am excited to share what I have learned and even more excited to hear from others in the business. I received word today that they will be accepting registration at the door, so there is still time to come! Trust me...it is well worth the registration cost and the drive!!!!!!!!!! Hope to see you there.

Don't Judge!

Wanted to share a story with you guys:
I was at Big Lots the other day. I ran into a lady that I teach with. Turns out that she was not there shopping but she was there working a part time job! After some conversation, I learned that it was actually her last day working there because she just couldn't do it all anymore-full time job, part time job, wife, mother to 2, etc. Well if you know me, that was my open door to talk about Scentsy and how Scentsy could help her achieve her goals. While I was chatting with her, my hubby was talking to the big burly furniture manager about a table we were buying. He overheard what I was talking about and started asking questions about it. I was out of catalogs in my purse*gasp* but I did find an old outdated "Host" brochure. I gave that to him just to show him the pics of the warmers and such. I figured he would just hand it right back, but instead, he folded it and put it in his pocket.
The next day, a girl called me and said "I am "so and so's" roommate. He brought home your brochure and said I need to have a party. While I was on the phone with her working out the details of getting her a basket tester set, he was in the background hollering out that he wanted to buy a warmer. My hostess told him to wait so she could put it on her party :)
I took her the tester set tonight so I am excited to see how this party turns out.
JUST GOES TO SHOW---DON'T JUDGE WHO YOUR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS MIGHT BE---YOU NEVER KNOW!!!!!

Spring Bling

Well, I am finally prepared for my presentation at Spring Bling. I cannot wait to share what I have learned. I hope that you will all try your best to make it out to Norman, OK this Saturday. It will definately be an amazing day of training and inspiration. I would like each of those in attendance to post a comment to our team blog when you return. Please share with us one "ah ha" moment from Spring Bling.

Being a Mom

Well, here I am at home with a sick kiddo. I really can't wait until next school year when I won't have to worry about writing sub plans when I need to care for one of my children. Scentsy has truly blessed my family. This company has been an answer to prayer for us. Thanks to Scentsy, I am going to have the opportunity to focus on my duties as a wife, mother, homeowner, daughter, etc... Many of these things have been put on a back burner in the past because of other obligations. I am so excited to have time to focus on the important things in life! GO SCENTSY!

New Catalog

Well, I am excited to launch a new catalog! I encourage each of you to set up an open house so that all your hostesses and customers can see the new products. Also, the pics of the new April warmer are up-get ready to market to those teachers!!!

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Oh Well,

Well, I really intended to post something new everyday on here! Life happens!
As I am writing this, I am heading out the door to my son's birthday party. I am very thankful that events like this next year will not be as hurried and as rushed because I will have more time to focus on my family. This is thanks to Scentsy! With the income I am making with Scentsy, I am able to quit teaching full-time and focus on my family. WooHoo-it can happen for you too!

Convention and Such

I want to encourage each and every Scentsy consultant to sign up for convention. Any training that you go to is life changing for your business. Convention is the best of the best. As of yesterday, there were 2,000 consultants signed up and it is capped at 5,000. Flights from OKC are running around $180 round trip right now.

Be sure to check out the recorded live feed from Saturday's training at Quartz Mountain. We learned some great business strategies, ideas, and more. I will have a prize for each consultant that can share something from this video at our meeting on Saturday. I will also have a prize for each consultant that joins this blog before Saturday! Pass the word :)

Be sure to check the blog daily for new information!

New to this thing!

Hello Team!
I am very excited about all the new information I learned while at team training at Quartz Mountain! I wish all of you could have been there. One of the things I learned while at training was "blogging". I am thrilled to try a new form of communication with the team. It is quite time consuming to email the team and really not time efficient to email the team with tiny tidbits of information. I "PLAN" on posting to the blog daily. This could be anything from important Scentsy information to incentives and prizes to welcoming new recruits to inspirational quotes to pictures of my adorable children! Who knows?
Please encourage everyone in your downline to join the blog and check it daily!
Have a SCENTsational Valentines Day!
